Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Ramadan Countdown Android app ("the app"), published by LinksGroups Engine ("we", "us"), handles information. By using the app you agree to this policy.
In short: the app does not require an account. Your location is used to calculate prayer times, Sehri & Iftar times and the Qibla direction, and we do not store it on our servers. The app uses Google services for ads, analytics, crash reports and in-app purchases, which process some device data as described below.
1. Information the app uses
- Location (precise or approximate): used on your device to calculate prayer, Sehri and Iftar times and the Qibla direction. To show your city name, your coordinates may be sent to your phone's geocoding service (Google). If you search for a city, the text you type is sent to that service to find it. We do not collect or store your location on our servers.
- Settings and app content: your preferences, alarms, Tasbih and Dhikr counts and history are stored only on your device. A Tasbih backup is only created when you choose to export one, and it is saved where you choose.
- Notifications and alarms: prayer, Azan, Sehri and Iftar alerts are scheduled locally on your device.
2. Third-party services
The app uses the following services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — shows ads. It may use your device's advertising ID and collect device and usage data to show and measure ads. Ads are limited to a general (family-friendly) audience. How Google uses data in ads.
- Google User Messaging Platform — asks for consent where required by law (for example in the UK, EU and EEA). No ads are requested before consent is resolved.
- Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous usage statistics (such as screens opened and app version) to help us improve the app.
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports (device model, Android version, crash details) to help us fix problems.
- Firebase Realtime Database — the app reads the announced Ramadan start date. No personal data is sent.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging & In-App Messaging — may deliver announcements, using an app instance identifier.
- Google Play Billing — processes the optional "Remove Ads" purchase and donations. Payments are handled entirely by Google; we never see your card or payment details.
- Google Play In-App Review & In-App Updates — lets you rate the app and receive updates.
See the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy information.
3. Permissions
- Location — prayer times, Sehri & Iftar times and Qibla.
- Notifications — prayer, Azan, Sehri, Iftar and Tasbih reminders.
- Alarms & reminders / full-screen alerts — so the Azan and Sehri alarm ring on time, including on the lock screen.
- Run at startup — to restore your alarms after the phone restarts.
- Internet — ads, city search, the Ramadan date and purchases.
- Vibration — Tasbih counter and alerts.
You can change or revoke any permission at any time in your phone's Settings.
4. Your choices
- Search for a city instead of allowing location access.
- Change your ad consent choices, or reset your advertising ID in your phone's Google settings.
- Remove ads with the optional one-time purchase.
- Delete all data stored by the app by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
5. Children
The app is suitable for all ages and its ads are limited to general audiences, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help remove it.
6. Data retention and security
Data stored on your device stays there until you delete it. Data processed by Google and Firebase is kept according to their policies. We use services that protect data in transit with encryption.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
